Shell||s Upstream International Middle East Region looks after assets in the Middle East and North Africa, with key existing operations in Oman, Abu Dhabi, Egypt, Iran, Oman, Pakistan, Iraq and Syria. We are currently exploring further opportunities in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and are also represented in Kuwait, Tunisia, and Algeria. The businesses of the region represent a mix of (1) mature assets in countries like Oman, Syria and Egypt with robust cash generation and a key focus on Operational Excellence and Competitive Costs, as well as (2) an unprecedented number of growth opportunities in Iraq, Enhanced Oil Recovery in Oman, as well as significant exploration potential.
The region is characterized by both its wide geographical/cultural spread and the complexity of the business relationships with host Governments and JV partners. With the exception of some of the exploration projects and Iraq Majnoon, none of the Shell||s business in the region is "Shell-operated|||| in a conventional sense. Within Shell, the region provides one of the best opportunities to achieve growth, and on an unprecedented scale. Business dimensions reflect activities in some 15 countries, with over 30 major fiscal contracts in place, currently delivering some 400 kboe/d upstream production in the mature assets, while incurring a total expenditure of some USD 4 bln on the various growth opportunities (all figures excluding Iraq projects). We are looking to recruit a Goverance Manager with Shell in Abu Dhabi.
Responsibilities:
As a Goverance manager you will be required to :
- -Add value to our Joint Venture (JV) operations and project development.
- -Align multiple stakeholders external and internal with diverse objectives to govern effectively our JV
- -Reconcile Shell||s governance requirements with the realities of JV relationships.
- -Effectively contribute to Shell Abu Dhabi||s objective to grow the business in a highly competitive and dynamic environment, where all major IOCs are present and very active.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Governance of the Shell Group||s interest in upstream Joint Ventures (JVs).
- Ensure delivery of optimum JVs Business plans through advising and influencing.
- -Appraise JVs performance against targets; and challenge/support JVs business plans and capital budget at a dvisory commitees.
- Ensure provision through Production & Technology (P&T) of world class technology and best practices to the JV in competition and harmony with other Industry Shareholders.
- Represent Shell at advisory committees, major tender boards and Shareholder meetings.
- Support/monitor the continuous improvement and change process of JVs.
- Screen and endorse project proposal of JVs.
- -Work with Industry Shareholders at technical, commercial and strategic level to establish common views and alignment on key issues.
- Build and maintain relationships with the JV EP Group and other business partners.
- Champion execution of Shell led projects and studies with JV and liaise with relevant internal stakeholders to secure necessary resources to mature business opportunities.
- Provide Shell Abu Dhabi input to the regional strategy development.
- Encourage high calibre nationals for development training and cross posting in Shell.
- Act as HSSE focal points for JVs and Shell Abu Dhabi and provide HSSE leadership
- You should have a University degree in Petroleum, Geoscience or Engineering with at least 15 years experience in oil and gas industry, coupled with extensive exposure towards full field development planning and heavy involvement of the management of oil and gas fields with project management experience, including planning, economics and project screening.
- Broad knowledge of EP business (oil and gas, exploration and development) and Commercial acumen
- Strong customer and External focus and ability to promote Shell as partner of first choice
- Experience in interacting with Non-Operated Companies/International Oil Companies
- Good negotiation skills
- Strong personal drive, leadership skills and strong presence with solid interpersonal and diplomatic communication skills, for internal and external relations, being culturally sensitive, preferably with Middle East experience.
- Arabic and English language skills.
